The Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 places a duty on Gilbert Builders Ltd to ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, the health, safety and welfare at work of all its employees. To comply with this duty it is necessary for Gilbert Builders Ltd to develop and implement a policy regarding training and supervision.

Gilbert Builders Ltd is committed to ensure that its employees are given adequate training and supervision with respect to both their work activities and health and safety issues. This training will be provided by using either accredited training providers or where appropriate a competent member of the Gilbert Builders Ltd team. At appropriate intervals employees will be given suitable and sufficient refresher training.

Typical types and/or topics for training and refresher training are:

 Fire safety and emergency evacuation procedures

 First aid training, facilities, accident assistance and reporting

 Personal protective clothing and equipment

 Safe use of work equipment

 Safe segregation of staff and others from ride on work equipment

 Safe handling and use of hazardous substances

 Hazards associated with Zoonoses, including Leptospirosis (Weil’s disease)

 Transport safety, on public roads and construction/work sites

 General health and safety training including manual handling & work at height

 Job/task specific training

 Induction training

 Refresher training

 Tool box talks

 Coronavirus (COVID-19) prevention

Gilbert Builders Ltd will produce and keep up to date a training matrix detailing which members of staff are trained and authorised to use significant items of work equipment. Mr Richard Gilbert positively welcomes all feedback from company staff via their direct supervisor on any aspect of this Training & Supervision Policy.

Our policy on training and supervision will be kept up to date, particularly if there are any significant changes in legislation or the nature or size of the company. To ensure this, this policy and the way it has operated will be formally reviewed every year.
